COIT20249 Assignment Answers   This unit is developed to introduce the students to the professional skills that is required in an information and communication technology professional such as oral, written and interpersonal skills, teamwork and ethical behaviour. The unit also examines some of the work culture. In this unit, the student would be able to explore the ways in which the Information and communication technology staff uses their professional skills while working in the ICT industry. The student will be introduced to several emerging information technologies that enables new forms of collaboration and communication.

 COIT20233 – Professional Skills for Information and Communication Technology.

Important Notes:

The students, who enrolled themselves in the subsequent unit and failed their pre-requisite unit, should drop the subsequent unit before 10 working days of Fail grade notification or the census date. Students who do not drop the unit at this stage would not be allowed to drop the unit without financial and academic liability.

Attendance requirements

All the on-campus students are expected to attend the scheduled classes - in some units, these are considered to be the mandatory components and the attendance is must for the students. International students must maintain a full-time study load and meet both attendance and academic progress requirements in each study period on a student visa. In order to satisfy the attendance requirement, the student must maintain at least an 80% attendance record.

This is a graded unit in which the overall grade will be calculated from the marks obtained in each COIT20249 assessment task which will be based on the weightings shown in the table specified above. In order to pass the examination, the student must obtain an overall mark for the unit of at least 50%, or an overall grade ‘pass’ so that the student can pass the unit. If any ‘pass / fail’ tasks are shown in the table able, they must also be completely successfully. In order to pass successfully, the students must also meet any minimum marks requirements that are specified for a particular assessment task, as presented in the section of ‘Assessment Task’. The students should note that the minimum marks requirement may exceed 50% specified above.

The students have indicated that they enjoyed studying the content of this unit and found the supporting resources very beneficial, especially the ALC embedded sessions.

Recommendation

The students are recommended to maintain the unit structure and resources while reviewing the unit content so that they can identify the areas of future development or improvement.

Action Taken

The unit structure remains largely unchanged. The teamwork skills were moved from week 8 to week 4 so that it would be more relevant to the students when they are undertaking the group presentation assessment from Week 5.

Overall, this unit allows the students to understand the concept and ideas to develop the professional skills necessary for the information and communication technology professional. The students are required to prepare the report on the based on the assessment required and the guidelines of learning outcomes. After the completion of the course, the student would be able to understand the importance of effective interpersonal skills and how to develop them. In addition, the students would be in a situation to know the importance of ethics and codes of behaviours within the information and communication technologies. Also, the students come to know about the new emerging technologies, and uses it to improve the organizational processes within the organization.
