Introduction


Domestic Violence is a major issue across the world and it is also constantly increasing in the regions of Australia. Concerning this, the primary purpose of this report is to provide a brief overview of the issue of domestic violence in Australia. The report will evaluate the state of the issue and how it creates a negative impact on the society of the country. In identifying the issue, the report will also provide the primary reason behind the issue and how the country deals with the issue.
 

Domestic Violence In Australia


Domestic violence is a major issue that is related to violence and attack on someone in the domestic circle where it is categorized into various forms such as physical, stalking, economic, physical, and sexual harassment (Stets, 2012). Domestic violence in Australia is categorized into different types such as verbal abuse, physical, sexual, spiritual, social, and many more. The issue is also frequently increasing in Australia in four major forms such as physical, sexual, psychological, verbal, and neglect. Concerning this, the psychological implications clearly define that the primary cause is four major reasons which have been as follows-
 
1. Biological.
 
2. Socialization.
 
3. Cognitive.
 
4. Situational factors (Law.jrank.org, 2022).
 
 
The issue of domestic violence is mainly registered against women through which their family believes and the environment is mainly responsible for the issue. The issue of family and domestic violence is a major issue in Australia where according to the personal safety survey more than 2.2 million people are facing the issue in different forms such as physical or sexual violence from their partner (Aihw.gov.au, 2022). Apart from this, more than 3.6 million people are facing the issue of emotional abuse from their partner so it is identified that the issue of domestic violence in Australia is mainly combined with family issues. Violence against women and children is most common in the county where 1 out of 3 women is experienced the issue at some time in their life (Ourwatch.org.au, 2022). It is also categorized into some parts where 1 out of 4 women is facing the issue by an intimate partner and 1 out of 5 is experienced sexual violence. The primary reason behind the issue is lifestyle and family influence where actual or intended separation is considered a major reason behind the high proportion of intimate partner homicide. As the result, Australia is ranked at 8th position for domestic violence against women which shows that the issue is at a major level in the country. The issue of domestic violence in the country also generates different types of major issues in a country where domestic violence is mainly responsible for the cause of homelessness for the children and women both in which more than 72,000 women, 9000 men, and 34000 children are homeless (Aihw.gov.au, 2018). In Australia, the issue is a very large level across the country but it is a major issue in two states such as Victoria and New South Wales, where as per the report between the year 2014 to 2015 more than 560 men and 2800 women are hospitalized to the hospital after they assaulting from their partner (Dent, 2018). The issue also creates a negative impact on the country where homelessness, crime, and assault hospitalization issues have increased in the country. The issue of domestic violence also increases the health issues in the country where at the primary level it is related to mental health issues that are related to anxiety and depression.
 
 
The government of Australia takes preventive actions to deal with the issue more effectively where it is defined under the family act of 1975. In the year 2012, the Australian government launched and develops a dedicated anti-violence policy to decrease the risk of the issue against children and women. The policy provides a framework for people to raise the issue of workplace and family violence. In the year 2019, for the prevention of domestic violence in Australia, the government of Australia implements a fourth action plan by investing more than $328 million to support the nation's plan against the issue of violence against women and children (Dss.gov.au, 2022). The primary recommendation for Australia to decrease the issue is to organize counseling sessions to create general awareness about the issue.
 

Conclusion

 
Based on the above study, it is concluded that domestic violence is related to family violence which is a type of abuse of someone. Domestic violence is categorized into different categories such as verbal abuse, physical abuse, neglect, spiritual abuse, and many more. In Australia, more than 2.2 million people are facing the issue of domestic violence, and women and children are more affected by the issue. It results in more than, 1 out of 3 women is experienced the issue at once in their life. The primary reason behind the issue is actual or intended separation, lifestyle, and family influence which also crates other issues such as homelessness, crime, and assault hospitalization. Thus, the government takes different actions for the prevention under the family act 2012 with the implication of an anti-violence policy.
