Introduction:

The crisis caused by the outburst of Covid-19 has forced healthcare organizations to optimize the way they operate. Healthcare leaders must utilize strategic planning to guide organizations toward the future. This paper intends to assess why implementing strategic planning is necessary for healthcare organizations to create resilience and prepare to adapt. By analyzing a peer-reviewed article, the chosen topic will be critically analyzed.

Discussion:

The dynamics of the healthcare industry have transformed due to the outburst of Covid-19. Employees providing healthcare are suffering due to immense work pressure. The quality of healthcare has been hampered. The contemporary healthcare system is in dire need of reform. During the pandemic, this industry has experienced staff shortages as burnout employees quit their job to get relief from the high-stress pandemic condition (Hooper et al., 2021). Interruptions and delays in ambulatory surgical procedures negatively impacted healthcare service quality. In order to address the aforementioned challenges, healthcare organizations need to apply strategic planning.

The chosen topic is significant because healthcare organizations face challenges in delivering quality healthcare service. During this pandemic, quality healthcare and safety can minimize mortality. Healthcare leaders must change how they lead healthcare organizations and manage the process. In order to plan for the future and be prepared for the potential challenges and disruptions, strategic planning will be useful for healthcare organizations (Gariboldi et al., 2021). It will allow healthcare organizations to be more agile, address the changing employment trend, and mitigate the impacts of the global supply chain (Miyah et al., 2022).

According to Amanda Pinta, Ayuningtyas & Simanjuntak, healthcare organizations need to survive and change their strategies to adapt the uncertain and challenging conditions. This peer-reviewed article intends to assess different hospital strategic plans and analyze different aspects that often change during the pandemic (Amanda Pinta, Ayuningtyas & Simanjuntak, 2022). The authors of this article intend to identify the potential of implying strategic planning in healthcare organizations. Using data like Science Direct, ProQuest, and Scopus, the authors of this article collected scholarly articles. Using quality assessment and data extraction of 1951 scholarly articles, the authors of this article choose eight articles that meet the inclusion criteria (Amanda Pinta, Ayuningtyas & Simanjuntak, 2022). The authors of this article have concluded that lack of management to transform inputs to outputs, outsourced inventory control, and lack of coordination are the reason why healthcare organizations are facing challenges. It is challenging for healthcare organizations to differentiate COVID-19 patients and non-COVID-19 patients during critical situations when patients need immediate care. The authors of this article concluded that strategic planning transformation is one of the key solutions for healthcare organizations to address these challenges. In order to remain resilient and deliver quality healthcare service in challenging situations, strategic planning will be useful (Amanda Pinta, Ayuningtyas & Simanjuntak, 2022).

Conclusion:

Thus, this discussion concludes that contemporary healthcare organizations need to identify the challenges caused by this pandemic and address those challenges with strategic planning. Implementing strategic planning in healthcare organizations will be fruitful in meeting the demands for effective care and growing hospitalizations. It will allow healthcare organizations to remain resilient and identify areas that need further investment.
