Analysis Of 2022 Federal Election With An Increased Focus On Gender

The Federal Election 2022 can be determined as a historic and popular election for the gender equality and Australis is more likely to have “a senate of majority women” (theguardian.com 2022). The house of representatives sits still at 38 percent women, up seven percent from last election.  The employers have to implement several strategies and policies for eliminating sexual harassment, inequality and discrimination from the workplace and this scope might be broadened for including the policies in the workplace including public sector, private sector and parliaments.  According to several authors such as Biddle and Gray (2022), the new government keeps all women safe in the parliament and it is needed to implement a standardised policy in the workplace that can help to ensure equality and safety for all women in the workplace. Along with the Covid-19 pandemic situation, there are several problems at play during 2022 Federal Election campaigns (Bonotti and Miragliotta 2022). The unemployment rate remained low even after getting recovered from this pandemic situation. It can be noticed that for many Australians, under-employment is a serious concern (Milner and LaMontagne 2017). Scott Morrison was actually forced in contributing more for addressing the safety and wellbeing of the women while Brittany Higgins had gone public with the allegations of being harassed in the minister's office (theguardian.com 2022). Labours argue that it is properly placed for dealing with the empowerment and safety of women and it is also more committed compared to the coalition to placing all of the female candidates or politicians in winnable seats (Kundu and Madgwick 2022). All of these concepts has helped to make the 2022 Federal Election a contemporary political issue.

According to Cassells, Duncan and Ong (2017), the financial inequality of women can be defined as a significant election issue and in Australia, women earn less money than men. Taking into consideration several things such as additional payments and bonuses, gender pay gap is a critical problem in the private sectors. The Federal Election 2022 has a great opportunity to decrease financial challenges of women in Australia (Willis., Merivaki and Ziogas 2022). Women in Australia stormed the Federal Election 2022 in numbers which cannot be ignored. From Monique Ryan and Zoe Daniel in Melbourne, Australia to Allegra Spender, Sophie Scamps, Zali Stegall and Kylea Tink in Sydney as well as Kate Chaney in Perth, the politics was being revolutionised entirely by many independent women (smh.com 2022). The women secured a stunning victory in different metropolitan seats which have provided Liberal Party with the power base (aec.gov 2022). The teals had focused more on the gender equality and also implemented it in a set of several policies including climate change and anti-corruption.
