Answer:

Non-verbal communication and its use in our daily lives are one of the most discussed topics. The Ted talk video, "Your body language may shape who you are" by Amy Cuddy, discusses the different dynamics of non-verbal communication. For example, how non-verbal communication shapes how we think and feel about others and how others think and feel about us. This talk was significantly persuasive and motivational and helped individuals learn how to be more confident, assertive, and powerful. Therefore, this essay will analyze Cuddy’s video on non-verbal communication, explain what I believe is essential about non-verbal communication from the video, and how I will apply them in my own life.

There are several essential lessons about non-verbal communication from Cuddy's video. For example, first impressions are often measured by non-verbal communication rather than verbal communication because individuals' movements, appearances, way of talking, and gestures bring out their personality before they even say a word. In addition, body language can also help individuals make judgements about others. However, we often forget that non-verbal communication influences how people judge us and how we judge others and how we influence and judge ourselves. For example, the non-verbal expressions of power and dominance involve expanding and opening up, which is true across the animal kingdom. These expressions are also the exact opposite when we feel powerless because when we do, we tend to make ourselves look small and closed up. In the video, Cuddy explains that individuals can train their minds to be confident by faking it until they make it (Amy Cuddy, 2012). Therefore, from the video, I believe that an essential thing about non-verbal communication is how we express ourselves. I believe that I can apply the concept of faking it till I make it in my own life in situations where I do not feel confident and feel like closing myself up.

In summary, I found this talk about being very interesting and educational as what Cuddy explained and how she delivered evidence was enough to make her concepts and ideas believable. She also provided examples and a story of how nonverbal communication changes and influences how we think and how others think about us.
