In this video, the vestibular system is discussed. It is part of the sensory system which is essential to enable normal movement and maintain equilibrium in individuals. The video also discusses the vestibular labyrinth, which forms the primary structure of the vestibular system. This structure enables the brain to get information about spatial orientation, motion, and head position. The video further discusses that the vestibular system further helps the body to keep balance and stabilize the position of the head when the body is in motion (Neuroscientifically Challenged 2016).

The video relates to the textbook by Schwartz and Krantz (2018). From the textbook as well, it can be further learned that the vestibular system is the sensory system that is responsible for the perception of balance and acceleration. Thus, it is very challenging for a skier to perform when the vestibular system is compromised. The vestibular system, as can be understood both from the book and the video, is situated in proximity to the cochlea of the ear and thus the two parts are connected.
