Lucretius, also called Titus Lucretius Carus is Latin poet and philosopher who gained increased attention Forest single long poem on the natural things (Nail 2018). the poet gained Fame for his work De rerum natura which is a didactic work focused on tenets and philosophy of Epicureanism. Through his poem, he tried to provide a scientific explanation of the universe in years of 96-55 BC (Nail 2018). apart from the poetic rhythm, Lucretius’s writing provides various scientific theories such as atomic theory and other mysteries of the universe that were not addressed by many scientists in that era (Friedländer 2018). Lucretius has been credited with originating the concept of the three-age system. However, very little details of birth and childhood are published in literature to gain understanding of his life, perception and philosophy. The paper aims to discuss Lucretius, his poems and other creations in following paragraphs.

Virtually nothing is known about the life of Lucretius apart from his creation as after four centuries of death, he was able to enter in Olympiad with the name “Titus Lucretius the poet is born. Even though his work was acknowledged during his time, his work was almost lost during the Middle Ages. The Olympiad in 17 centuries made significant appearance of the work created by Lucretius and suggested that the poet will be 43 and he might be born in 99 or 98 BC (Friedländer 2018). Based on his Olympiad, it was suggested that he might be the active member of aristocratic gens Lucretia as his works reflected sophisticated lifestyle, family-owned rural estates similar to other wealthy Roman families. Lucretius was considered as the first writer known to introduce the Roman readers to Epicurean philosophy (Aaas.org 2020). He is one of the first poets that provide a message such as poetry and Science go way back in collaboration to crack the greatest code of the universe. the underlying reason is that in his creation of the epic De Rerum Natura (translated in English as On the Nature of Things) he suggested that the universe was made of an infinite number of atoms (Aaas.org 2020). De Rerum Natura is a didactic or instructional poem that reflects his core beliefs that the universe is made up of a combination of void and atoms. All physical things are created out of the chance conjunction of atoms; death is nothing besides the disjunction of these atoms (Gellar-Goad 2020). The poem, written in some 7,400 dactylic hexameters, is divided into six untitled books, and explores Epicurean physics through poetic language and metaphors. The universe described in the poem operates according to these physical principles such as chance rather than any divine interventions (Gellar-Goad 2020). Hence, Lucretius makes reference to the cultural and technological development of humans in his use of available materials, tools as well as weapons along with language, family and city states.
As an early thinker and important figure in the study of evolution, Lucretius held a deep philosophy and belief that nature experimented endlessly across lifespan and other natural resources. Organisms must adapt best to the environment and such experiments in order to receive the best chance of surviving. In the adverse events organisms only survived due to the interlink relationship between speed internet external dynamics and strength (Nail 2018). Therefore, prior to publication of origin of species, the natural philosophy of Lucretius typified ancient non-teleological and mechanistic accounts of evolutionary life (Meier 2018). In contrast to modern thought on the subjectt, he refuted the hypothesis that new species evolved from previously existing ones and the land animals were evolved from marine animals. Unlike other scientists and Charles Darwin’s assumptions, He also challenges that basic assumption of human that humans are necessarily superior to animals because any other mammalian mothers who are animal nurture their child similar to any human mothers (Flanagan et al. 2018). Since Lucretius was an atomist and a materialist, his other creations also reflect important science theories (Nethercut 2018). For example, through his writing, he outlined laws of the conservation of matter and energy which is fundamental for understanding modern chemistry. The second important theory is that he found a doctrine where molecules are attached. Even though he misses the role of electrical charges, he was one of the first theorists that focused on rare assumptions of chemistry (Nail 2018).. Similarly, a remarkable description of Brownian motion of dust particles in verses 113–140 from Book II (Friedländer 2018). He uses this as a proof of the existence of atoms. The third important theory is that unlike other biologists, he was one of the first persons who provided a clear outline on biological mutations as well as selection of the fittest to survive (Nethercut 2018). Unlike other philosophies, authors provided deep insight into the death. For example, Lucretius argues the reality is that being dead will be no worse (just as it will be no better) than it was, long ago, not yet to have been born (Meier 2018). Hence, death is nothing to us as there is nothing to experience in death, because the experiencer no longer exists. All sensation and consciousness end with death and therefore in death there is neither pleasure nor pain (Nail 2018). Hence, Natural philosophy and creation of Lucretius gained increased attention in providing various scientific theory.
On a concluding note, it can be said that Lucretius is Latin poet and philosopher who gained increased attention Forest single long poem on the natural things. Even though his work was acknowledged during his time, his work was almost lost during the Middle Ages.
